BTAD administration reviews progress of rural road-connectivity projects
Focus on finishing pending work before the monsoon sets in
The BTAD administration held a review meeting this week to assess progress on rural road-connectivity projects running across its four districts. The meeting examined the current status of each project and the timeline for remaining work.
A senior BTAD official said the goal is to finish as much work as possible before the monsoon begins, since construction slows considerably once the rains set in. About seventy percent of the projects are currently on schedule, the official said.
Delays on a few projects were also raised at the meeting, mostly attributed to difficulties in transporting construction material. The administration has directed contractors on those projects to bring in additional resources to speed things up.
Local elected representatives attending the meeting raised specific villages where connectivity all but disappears during heavy rain. The administration assured them these would be added to the priority list.
Closing the meeting, the BTAD chief said improved connectivity affects more than just travel — it has a direct bearing on access to healthcare and education. Another review meeting is scheduled for next month.
