Three-day folk-culture festival opens in Mazbat, showcasing multiple communities' traditions
Bodo, Rabha and tribal dance troupes share the stage
A three-day folk-culture festival opened in Mazbat this week. Dance troupes from the Bodo, Rabha and other tribal communities are presenting their own traditional performances at the event.
"Our region is a mix of many communities. This stage brings that diversity together under one roof and gives everyone a chance to celebrate it together," the festival committee's president said.
"Not many people still know our traditional dance. Performing on a stage like this helps the younger generation get to know it," a Rabha dancer said.
The festival grounds also host a display of local food and handicrafts, along with a painting competition organised for students.
The three-day festival will close with a joint cultural evening, bringing performers from every community onto the stage together.
